I am seeking a job as Spa Manager or Assistant Spa Manager. I am eager to learn more about the industry and to influence the staff with whom I will work to become first-class and effective practitioners of spa therapy. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I have a limited ability to speak Spanish. What State are you looking to work in and why? I am seeking to work in the Virgin Islands. What field do you currently work in? Presently I am contracted by two government agencies in training tourism workers and facilitating entrepreneurship workshops in Jamaica. I am also actively instructing and training in Massage Therapy, Body Scrub and Hot and Cold Stone Massage. Currently, I am in the process of finalizing accreditation as an Assessor of Spa therapy on behalf of the National vocatational Qualifying registration of Jamaica (NVQ-J) What fields have you worked in before? My career started with me being a Trained Teacher. After five years, I transitioned into the secretarial field, having received training as a Secretay. This exposure further moved me into Human Resource Management, Training and Development. My years of involvement in the tourism sector motivated me to include Spa therapy among my many career competencies. What qualifications do you hold? I hold a Teachers Certificate at the Secondary level from the Joint Board of Teacher Education and a Diploma in Training and Development from the Institute of Management and Production. I have also received Diplomas from Christine Valmy Institute of Aesthetics in Massage Therapy, Reflexology and Skin Care. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Formal education and skills are critical to the development of any individual serious about being effective and successful at their chosen career. Formal education provides the fundamental in ones knowledge basis and intelligence, skills such as technical skills, interpersonal skills are very important competences for the delivery of good service and good job performance. Describe the benefits of working with others I anjoy teamwork. Working with other persons have enabled me over the many years to feel a sense of partnership, achievement and inclusion. It is in working with other persons that I have experienced the greatest sense of achievement, and interesting, it is in this setting that I have discovered so much about my talents and potentials. Describe the benefits of working alone In one sense working alone sometimes have alowed me to commit to tasks and seek to do them without waiting on others to co-operate. Now that I am self employed, I miss working as a team and can't wait to get back into that setting where I can be able to work with others. What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience was leading a team and trying to accomplish tasks that the support needed from my superiors was not given. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Throughout my career, I have learnt that my passion is leading, training and facilitate learning. In doing so I learn just as well as my colleges or participants. I have learnt that if one chooses a career that complements that individuals personality and interests, work becomes such a pleasure. As a consequence, I motivate others to align their chosen careers with their interests and talents in as much as possible. Having worked in the hospitality industry I have enjoyed interacting with visitors to jamaica. I have a keen interest in learning about persons from other countries and, in return, shaing my country with them. What unique skills do you have? I have the ability to motivate and encourage others around me. i have found that I enjoy performing my duties with innovation and creativity. I am always trying to come up with unique and different ways of doing my job and fortunately, no matter how many times I perform the task, I dont' get bored or tired of doing them. I have the ability to do sales and marketing well. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would be one whereby I can utilize my accummulated knowledge, skills and competencies and become very successful in being a very meaningful and outstanding contributor to the mandate and mission of the organization for which I work. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspect of spa therapy is how dynamic it it. There is always something to learn, and all the modalities contribute to facilitate the well being and comfort of all those whom I serve. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? This fisld is so exciting. Over the past 6 years I have not yet found any aspect of spa therapy that is least intereting to me. How can potential employers contact you?
