I am interested in job opportunites in the United States and any tropical climate location. I am currenty living in the New York State Adirondack mountain region and would like to relocate to a warmer climate. If relocated, I am also willing to travel for job related projects to other regions/locations. What countries have you worked in? United States and Canada. What fields have you worked in before? Construction. What qualifications do you hold? I have been involved in the construction industry for for 30 years. My job titles have included carpenter, supervisor, estimator, project manager, director of constuction, and I am currently the owner of a general commercial contracting company. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider skills to be more valuable. The knowledge I have attained throughout the past 30 years of my on hands experience has made me a leader in the construction industry. I have become trusted by some of the largest names in the commercial industry in the north east region of the united states. Describe the benefits of working with others Working with a team has expanded my experiences and knowledge of the construction industry in general. Teamwork allows projects to be executed at the highest level within budget and on time completion. Describe the benefits of working alone I don't think that working alone in the commercial construction industry is possible. Teamwork is really needed not only to get the job done, but to get the job done correctly. What was your worst working experience? Not having the authority to choose the proper personnel/subcontractors to perform and complete projects within the appropriate time and budget. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Complimenting and applauding personnel and/or subcontractors for their work is very important. Reprimand for poorly executed work is part of the job but recognition for achievement not only allows your employees to continue to keep up the good work but lets them know they are recognized. What unique skills do you have? I have the ability to evaluate projects to reduce cost without compromising the quality of work. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would be working in construction management in a tropical climate. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Design and taking a project from conception to the final ribbon cutting ceremony. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? repitition. How important do you consider bringing projects to completion within the allowed time frame? Completion of a project on schedudle is one of the most important aspects of a job in the commercial construction industry. It allows customers/clients to start their businesses. The faster the job is completed, the faster they start earning revenue.
