COTA positionWhat type of job are you looking for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant What area of this field have you worked in or prefer? I last worked in and enjoyed Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation and prefer this. I will entertain other opportunities. I have worked in Mental health, SNF-LTC, and a Hospital environment. Have you ever lived in the Virgin Islands? No. But I have lived on the Big Island of Hawaii and understand the pace. I am realistic about living and working in an Island environment. Will you accept a travel/temporary position? Yes, travel is preferred to begin. What fields have you worked in before? I've worked in Building Maintenance and held a boiler fireman license, a registered Honda motorcycle mechanic, Real Estate Agent, Owner of Audio/entertainment business, Head mechanic of a large rental company and held a top-secret submarine-base clearance. What qualifications do you hold? Therapy wise I am currently licensed in Washington State USA. Have been licensed in AZ and OH. Am certified through NBCOT Which do you consider more valuable, a license to practice, age, experience, or personality? Personality is #1. You can't teach or learn this. Describe the benefits of working with others There may be another person to bounce ideas off of, ask for help. The social connection is healthy and fosters a well-rounded life. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone allows a person to focus and be more efficient as they can direct themselves in there best manner. What was your worst working experience? I was asked to climb in a hole while a backhoe worked above (the boss). A large piece of dirt fell and pinned me. The boss yelled at me while he dug me out for not being more careful! What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Be as consistent as possible. Just like a party, don't talk about politics and religion. Do you have a resume and cover letter available yes, I will attempt to include this but am unsure if this site will accept it due to size. Do you have any specific expectations of a position? To only make promises they can truly keep. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? To see people lives directly improved through my efforts. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Politics and condescending personalities. When could you be available and any closing comments? I am available immediately. I will again emphasize I would enjoy coming to the Islands but am not doing so as a fantasy. I am realistic but understand there are a number of people who try to work there, as in Hawaii, as a perceived dream to live in a tropical paradise without life experience behind the consideration. Can you attach a cover letter/resume? Gary Snyder 4176 Erlands Pt. Rd. The area of preferred OT practice is Outpatient Rehabilitation. Industrial, work-hardening, and assistive technology are also relative to abilities. Open to travel employment offshore US, USVI, etc. I obtained an OTA license in 1998 and have practiced since. The most recent COTA position was held in an outpatient facility located in Arizona, this lasting over three years. Six years were practiced in a WA mental-health hospital, less than one year in a WA SNF, and less than one year at a Mid-Ohio hospital. I left my home in Arizona to assist my parents and one grandparent. Life experiences have included motorcycle racing, steam-heat boiler fireman license, top-secret clearance, a wide breath of mechanics, live entertainment, and a real estate license. Street and off-road motorcycling will always be in my blood. A zest for live entertainment continues on occasion. Videography and photography are an ongoing interest. Dr. Torey Botti of Flagstaff Bone & Joint would be a solid reference as I cared for a number of his post-op patients. I will acquire his contact number or email at your request. If you have placement please contact me as soon as possible. If not, I'd appreciate any leads you may have toward outpatient employment elsewhere. Thank-you for your time.
