Haiti, to assist with the rebuilding and disaster recovery.

None, but will obtain one.

What field do you currently work in?

Construction; carpenter; nuclear scaffold builder

What fields have you worked in before?

carpentry; nuclear scaffold building; drilling

What qualifications do you hold?

16 years of construction; certified carpenter

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Both, you need to have a good understanding of what is required on the physical and the intellectual side of the job at hand.

Describe the benefits of working with others

You can implement your ideas that may be helpful as well as learn from others at the same time.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone you can focus on the task at hand.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was watching an A-Frame loaded with sheet rock fall on top of a co-worker.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

What's important to me is safety and completing the job in a timely manner. I prefer quality over quantity. I like to be able to stand back and say this is my work and i'm proud of it.

What unique skills do you have?

I construct, erect, install, and repair structures. I measure, mark,and arrange building materials. I check the accuracy my work using levels, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment, and if I need to I make any necessary adjustments. I also frame walls and partitions, install cabinets and complete many other tasks. I am also able to pour concrete and erect scaffolds.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is someday to own and run my own construction company.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

I'm always ready for a challenge and looking to learn something new.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

Well for me there is no dull moment.

What is my reason for wanting to help out in Haiti?

After the tragedy struck and seeing such devastation, I felt that my monetary contributions was not enough. If in any way I can make a physical contribution with the skills that i have, this will be something that I will be forever be proud of for my whole lifetime. Just knowing that I was apart of the rebuilding would be a great accomplishment for me.
