Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Skills and formal education are both of great value but I would prefer to value formal education higher than just being skilled 1. An educated individual can easily acquire a number of new skills than one who is illiterate 2. A skilled worker lacking formal education normally finds it difficult to adapt to changes that might even be meant to improve his/her productivity. 3. Formal education helps an individual understand the roles and operations of other functions in an organisation. This helps him to appreciate the role played but other employees outside his sphere and relate with them without being suspicious or feeling threatened.

Describe the benefits of working with others

1. A better decision is arrived at when an array of ideas from a team are brought together than when the decision rest on an individual. 2. Situations where personal interests are allowed to precede organisational interests are minimized. For example. Cases of fraud are reduced when organisational cheques require two signatures to cash as compared to a situation where a single signature is enough 3. When a number of individuals are involved in making a decision, it is less likely to face opposition or criticism when it is time to implement it.

Describe the benefits of working alone

1. One does not need to consult to make a decision so the decision making process is short and fast 2. Instances where good decisions are not implemented just because team members don't get along and constantly shoot down other team members' ideas are eliminated. 3. Situation that require privacy and confidenciality are better managed when fewer people are involved thus it is better to assign one person than having a team

What was your worst working experience?

My worst experience at work was when on my second day at a new job, I asked for directions to the gents since nobody had shown me around. One lady cleaners pointed the direction and I walked straight into the ladies toilets. Unfortunately the general manageres was in the loo that very moment and she was very angry with me.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Over the years I've learnt that keeping a good name is of paramount importance. On my last job, exactly a week after I had left there was a break in at my former workplace. A lot of valuables were stolen including state of the art computers. The detectives investigating the case wanted to include me on the list of suspects but my ex - co workers, without reservations, told them it was impossible that I could have had a hand in the theft. They were exonerated in just a few days when the criminals were caught and convicted of the crime.

What unique skills do you have?

I'm very good in mathematics and science. I can fix variaty of home and office electricals. I'm also a good and careful driver and have driven members of parliament. I have 10 years accident free driving experience.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

I believe I can be a president. That's what would be best job for me

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Each and every day is different and there are no monotonous tasks.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

An economy that is unstable both in term of price and availability of supplies result in a big strain for the purchasing personnel and the effectiveness of the function is compromised

What are your achievements or awards to date

1. At secondary school I was on two occasions nominated best student in class 2. At high school I got an award for best Mathematics student for the year.
