Please give us a short summary of your website?
Jumpstarting peoples' careers is my passion and on my site there are resources that apply to people who want to know which careers are for them to those who need to take their careers to the next step.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Wanting to reach out to a larger audience on the web to assist in their own career success.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is it! www.jlgconsultingcompany.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name is a combination of my and my husband's names with the tag of consulting and company following.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
You can immediately assist others with their careers by assisting in telling others about the resources available. You can immediately start a small business or just get help researching options.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I will be launching Informational Interviewing videos within months that will cover all industries that I get feedback on from my clients. This will take the guesswork out of the careers people want to land.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It is more about getting the word out there that there are tools to jumpstart your career in the right direction. I devote to the resource as much as my clients need.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would start the informational interview videos online instead of in a DVD format.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I have the resources of many passionate career minded professionals who can assist with an increase in volume.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No headaches as of yet but some great sleepless nights filled with dreams of where to go next.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I am not a programmer or artist but I am surrounded by great professionals in that field. Until I see results I am grassroots with my efforts online, nothing flashy or artsy about my site. Just the content people need.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It is too early to really comment on this one. I will be using mailings to my clients and gathering emails from those who want more information on specific topics so that I can follow up with easy to use content for them.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I expected it to be moderately difficult. Until I get all the content up I think I will be continuously changing things.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have posted it this week and look forward to a lifetime of adding to the content.
What makes you qualified to offer Career Advice?
15+ years of consulting and recruiting in careers. I enjoy assisting people. I have the degrees to back it up. Masters of Career Counseling, and pursuing Docorate of Business Administration in the dissertation phase. I want to use all I know to make your career dreams come true.
