The Failing Film Industry Gets A Boost!

11/02/09 18:15

Who better to save the LA film industry than Disney?

The glitz and glamor of Hollywood has failed to deliver over the past few years and the industry has gradually shed thousands of jobs and relocated some productions to other states offering tax breaks for the industry. When ABC chose to move production of their successful show "Ugly Betty" to New York last year, state authorities finally took notice and initiated their own tax incentives for film companies to stick around the hills.

Entertainment giant Disney has now stepped in with a bigger plan to save the industry! The Walt Disney Company, in conjunction with ABC studios, will build a facility on 890 acres of land in northern Los Angeles County. This huge project will include a commisionary, production offices and twelve soundstages as well as many multi-function facilities that will be used for a range of tv and film productions.

Not only will the project add a much needed boost to the struggling film and television industries by providing nearly 3,000 entertainment and production jobs, but the building of these facilities will inject more than $522 million in to the state's construction industry.

This ambitious plan is one of the biggest development and expansion projects taken on by any studio in recent years and is will doubt provide a physical and psychological boost to the quintessential US industry.
