Connecticut's Online Job Board Interview

By Interviewer at 02/11/08 16:54

Name of your website?

Connecticut's Online Job Board

Your name?

Jason Neubauer

Your Location (city, etc)

Manchester, CT

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A local Employment site dedicated to Connecticut Employment openings.

Features local career information, schools, employers and staffing firms.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To offer a low cost local employment source for employers that is easy for the job seeker.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

First site was in 1996, a local based recruitment advertising site. To promote the services of a local ad recruitment ad agency. www.paxtonreed.com.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

ConnecticutCareers.com, explains the services I offer.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Low cost to post jobs for employers and easy to use. We focus on the local markets. Job seekers can find what they are looking for in minutes and post there resume in under 30 seconds.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep ot for income, but always open to the right opportunity. I own over 150 local and niche employment sites.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Small business owner. Where not it in for the money, but the challenge of building a business.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Marketing and more database options. They are always fun to have, but then our easy to use approach would be gone.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Search Engine Optimization and database

What has been your biggest challenge?

SEO

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Work in progress. Sites like this have helped a lot.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Hard to answer that one. I guess so, thought I would have 300 people working for me and a boat. Someday I guess.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

ConnecticutCareers.com has been online since Fall of 2007. I will keep it online for as long as I can keep up with technology. The demand is there for a quality local employment site.

What other websites do you own?

All my current websites are online at www.JobBoardsOnline.com

I am in the development stage of several others over the next three to four months.

What is your website address?
