HealthCareer Advisors, LLC Interview

By Interviewer at 11/03/07 12:42

Name of your website?

HealthCareer Advisors, LLC

Your name?

David Blender

Your Location (city, etc)

Algonquin

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A national healthcare recruiting, placement and staffing solutions firm. With over 500 recruiters in the U.S., we serve the career needs of healthcare practitioners and the resource requirements of healthcare employers.

Our services are provided to healthcare practitioners without cost. We are compensated by our clients; healthcare employers.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To provide employment and placement assistance to healthcare practitioners. To serve the resource requirements of healthcare employers.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Back in 1995. A strategic management consulting and investment banking firm.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is what we do. We offer healthcare career advice and assist healthcare practitioners with finding the jobs of their dreams. We do all we can to enhance the quality of lives for the providers, practitioners and to the people who need medical service providers.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our focus is different than most healthcare recruiters and placement firms. Our focus is on the healthcare practitioner; the candidate. We represent healthcare professionals as their Career Agent. We take on the most qualified candidates and represent them to employers seeking their unique talents and skills. Our services are solely compensated by employers. It is a win-win scenario for all. Healthcare practitioners are happy to have the job of their dreams and not pay for our services. Employers are pleased to have found the right job applicant and to fill vacancies. We are providing a great service to professionals, employers and the respective community.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To continue to grow the business. Currently, we have more than 500 recruiters in the U.S. Our goal is to double in size within 3 years without sacrificing the quality of our services. Our methodology works. We have the right model in place. We are excited about the future and truly enjoy what we do.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

There is never enough time in a day to accomplish all we do. Our schedules must remain flexible to meet the needs of our candidates and clients. It is always a challenge to have time, money and the proper measurement of success in balance. We believe we have the right approach and continue to implement checks and balances to ensure we have the proper balance.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We do not believe in heavy investments that do not yield returns with our website. It is not about the amount of money spent, but rather the quality of each dollar invested measured against a real return.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We have the resources to grow. If necessary, we would bring on the appropriate talent to meet the demands and challenges that are created from rapid growth.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

That is a long story. You never know all the costs a business will incur...but do all you can to have a backup plan or a contingency plan to address the unexpected.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I would have to say staying focused on what we do....and not become overly focused on the growth we have experienced. We need to always provide the highest level of service to our candidates and clients. The growth will continue as long as we neve lose sight of what we do and why we are in business.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth and a balanced advertising budget.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasn't. We are experiencing what we envisioned before we launched our site.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

This site has been up for a couple of years. We are still in our infancy with respect to our website. We are committed to our site and our business. We will continue to be in business and maintain our site for as long as demand for what we do continues.

What is your website address?
