Please give us a short summary of your website?
We are a physician job board allowing physicians of all specialties to search for jobs throughout the United States. Physicians can go to www.physiciandepot.com and search for positions and post their profile for free. Also, employers can search our database and post their positions for physicians to review.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have been in the healthcare industry for many years and understand the growing need and demand for physicians. Therefore, I wanted to develop a job board that would make it easy for physicians to find optimal employment opportunities while also helping employers fill their growing physician needs. Since I also have a computer background, launching a job board just made sense.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
PhysicianDepot was launched in 2004.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted a name that would have physician in the title but also indicated a "one stop source" for finding physician jobs.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our site offers a guarantee to employers who sign up for our site and we are very cost effective when compared to similar offerings. Our site is free for job seeking physicians to search positions and to post their profile.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I would like to continue to make PhysicianDepot grow and keep it for income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
PhysicianDepot has become a full-time job for me so it takes up most of my time. This year PhysicianDepot has seen financial success with even more promising outlooks of growth within the future.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would add additional features for the doctors and employers. I'm always trying to make the site more user friendly so with an unlimited budget I would be able to add a lot more features. I would also do more advertising of site.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I developed this so
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I've had to deal with a lot of programming issues. That has been the biggest headache as it takes a lot to build a site and to constantly improve upon it. I've also learned a lot in SEO! Getting PhysicianDepot to show up in search engines and to get traffic has been a learning experience that I did not foresee being so difficult.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been getting PhysicianDepot ranked high within major search engines. I've spent a lot of time learning SEO, but things are always changing and you have to constantly be learning.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I would say that email promotions and our newsletter has been the best method for promoting our site. We always have good responses to our promotions and it helps potential customers learn more about PhysicianDepot.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has taken a lot longer to get the site where I initally wanted it to be. It also takes a lot more "hands on" work than I initially thought.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have run the site for three years now, and I will continue to do so unless I can no longer finacially. I'm not sure how long that would be, but I would try everything in my power to keep the site going until that time.
