Expats who plans to work in Thailand needs to secure proper work permits that can be obtained from the Department of Employment under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.
Acquiring this working permit, which is only valid for one year, will allow the bearer to have the privilege of running a business legally, opening a savings account in any local bank, applying for a Thai credit card as well as bank loans, applying a contract with a phone and internet provider and so much more. However, bearer are not allowed to own a land as a foreigner.
