Have offer in Abuja, Nigeria from Total Petro as Project Manager Technical Support Services. Please inform on : 1) Work place is it good to work at Nigeria. 2) People at Abuja 3) I am Christian, will it be fine 4) Is it safe for expratite Indian. 5) Visa formalities [Ed note: FIRST you need to figure out if the job offer is a scam: 1) You didn't have any detailed interview. 2) The salary to too high (US$15,000+ /month). 3) You have to pay any fees for a "visa" or anything else. Legitimate companies should have all that information for you, do a real interview, pay a reasonable salary (not some windfall) and not make you pay any fees. If you've established that it's a real job, they should be looking after you and should give you open accessible details about your alary, medical care, visa, contract and accommodation, which shoud all be taken care of. Get your contract signed before you leave and details of start up fund and allowance for taking furniture etc from UK. If it is bona fide, Abuja is a great place to live, although very very culturally different. You won't notice this at first, as you'll take what Nigerians are saying at face value. They will say yes just to please, but it doesn't mean anything! You get used to this. The locals are really friendly and polite and it is not a dangerous city. If they help you they will expect some sort of tip - 200 naira or so (£1). The religions are mixed with many Muslim and many Christians, but there is freedom of religion (I'm a Buddhist, no probs). My friend there is Indian, she had no problems connected to that, people view all expats with the same eye. In fact racism seems non-existent in Africa and apart from the difference in salary which may be a divider, you will be treated very well. Your employer should take care of your visa for you and should pay it. You send your contract to the Nigerian Embassy in London for your visa before you go. Make sure you have your contract and your employer knows what they are doing. DON'T ignore this advice that everyone is giving you about this, it's not worth it.
